Garden Gleaning

Giving Garden Tips – Developed by Solid Ground’s Lettuce Link program in Seattle, this document gives any community and home gardener valuable advice on how to grow produce for their local food bank.

Food Bank Garden Signs – Print, fill them out, and place in your community garden food bank plots or home gardens to advertise to other gardeners how easy it is to help our neighbors in need.

 
 Other Local Gleaning Organizations

Community Pie – Washington Heights group that gleans fruit of all sorts with community youth, and then makes pies to sell at the neighborhood bandshell!  “Everyone gets a piece of the pie!”

Tikkun Ha-ir – repairs communities through study and action.  They have an active gleaning program and gleaned over 25,000 lbs in 2013!

Other Local Organizations

Fruity Nutty Milwaukee via The Victory Garden Initiative –  gives orchards to micro-neighborhoods that apply (small block radius).  The orchards they give include up to 30 trees, and can be planted together, or in backyards within the micro-neighborhood.
