About

Milwaukee Non-profit – all Volunteers

Glean Milwaukee has been gleaning fruit in the Milwaukee area since 2013. As of February 2015, Glean Milwaukee is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization; however, Glean Milwaukee is maintained by volunteers – the board, management, fruit pickers, drivers, etc.

Glean Milwaukee was created to collect and distribute fresh fruit to those in need, and to support the survival of local fruit trees.  Some tree owners cannot eat or give away the incredible abundance their trees produce, and keeping up with the daily fallen fruit that wasps love can be a challenge — the homeowner may eventually consider cutting the tree down.  Glean Milwaukee helps with harvest to facilitate a healthy relationship between tree and owner.  We envision all Milwaukee fruit trees utilized by owners and neighbors, and that all people clamor for neighborhood fruit!
